ICON OF THE WEEK – Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn gains status as one of the greatest style icons of all time in popular culture. Her visibility has stood the test of time with just as many if not more fans today than ever before. Well known for her charitable work with Unicef she truly is a role model, setting the way for celebrities to be more than just a face.

Her style can be split down into 8 easy pieces which can be replicated with original vintage items and modernising with newer items to create a unique Hepburn feel.

  1. The Little Black Dress

Little black dresses are a signature item for Hepburn, and the black gown she wore to eat her breakfast in front of the window of Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue was made especially by Givenchy for her.

2. Cropped Trousers

Audrey in her cropped cigarette trousers, go for gingham as a fun summer print. She paired them with a white shirt or her signature black roll-neck, and always added in her flat ballet pumps.

3. Black Roll Neck Jumper

Her Funny Face outfit consisted of a black roll-neck, black pumps and black cropped trouser becoming one of her most iconic looks and still as wearable today as it was then.

4. White Shirt

Hepburn famously wore an oversized white shirt in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

5. The Silk Scarf

6. Ballet Pumps

Audrey is renowned for her easy to wear looks and the appeal comes from the comfort. She was a big advocate for the Ballet Pump.

7. Statement Sunglasses

Cat eye sunglasses were a staple go to for her but any statement pair would provide the same look.

8. The Trench Coat

Whisper the words, “Holly Golightly,” 9/10 times you’re thinking of Audrey in a headscarf and belted trench coat. The star often wore classic trenches on and off-screen (earlier this year, Christie’s auctioned one of her Burberry macs), and decades later, they still look just as timeless.
